Berlin Group TravelAn amazing place to go when you visit Berlin on a school trip is the Berlin Cathedral, which is the largest Protestant church in Germany. The cathedral was built between 1894 and 1905, inside the cathedral is the Hohenzollern crypt where visitors can see seventy of the original eighty-nine coffins, which have been preserved. Another place that is well worth visiting is the Charlottenburg Palace, this is the largest palace grounds in Berlin, it took over a hundred years to complete and has many cultural assets. In the Palace grounds there is a Mausoleum, many statues including an equestrian statue of the Great Elector, an Orangery and baroque gardens.

The largest building in Berlin is the Television Tower; this is a broadcasting tower that stands 365 meters high. The tower is in the centre of Berlin and marks the capital. It was built between 1965 and 1969 and has a seven-storey globe 250 metres high where visitors can enjoy the view over Berlin or enjoy a meal in the rotating restaurant.

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Berlin is the Brandenburg Gate, as well as being a popular tourist attraction it is also Berlins most famous landmarks, which is over 200 years old. The Brandenburg gate is the only remaining city gate in Berlin, it is also the first significant example of Berlin classicism.

The victory tower at Grosser Stern is another one of the most well-known landmarks in Berlin. It is a sixty-nine metre high cylinder, which is decorated with gilded gun barrels and has a golden figure on the top. The monument was originally dedicated to acts of war and recalls Prussian victories over Denmark, Austria and France. The figure on the top’ the ‘Golden Else’ can be reached by climbing the 285 steps to pay your respects to her and to see beautiful views over Berlin.
